Foley and St. Luke's Episcopal are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Foley Lions duke it out with St. Luke's Episcopal Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Foley came up short against Bryant and fell 5-1. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Foley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Heiden, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base. William Quarles was another, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, St. Luke's Episcopal got themselves on the board against Escambia County on Monday, but Escambia County never followed suit. They blew past the Blue Devils 17-0. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Campbell Tillman and Conner Moseley made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Tillman pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Moseley pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Tillman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Tillman scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Moseley scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Tillman a new career-high in RBI (three).
In other batting news, Russ Warner and Cooper Frampton did most of the damage at the plate: Warner went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one double, while Frampton scored four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Frampton a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Andrew Thomas, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
St. Luke's Episcopal always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Foley's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for St. Luke's Episcopal, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Foley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. However, it's not like St. Luke's Episcopal struggles in that department as they've averaged .464. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
