It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Covington Academy Bulldogs can now relate to. They took a 82-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars on Monday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lafayette Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bruno Tellez, who scored 31 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Tellez is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last 19 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Zapata, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Covington Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Lafayette Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.
Covington Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lafayette Christian also has no future games currently scheduled.
