While losing is never fun, Moore Haven can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 518th, while Donahue Catholic is ranked 246th).
Moore Haven's loss came despite strong showings from Preslynn Baker and Sa'Nyree Myers. Baker scored 17 points, while Myers scored 15 points. Myers is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Akeelah Ling, who scored six points.
Donahue Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ellie Guernsey led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Guernsey scored 15 or more points. Scholastica Niewald was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Moore Haven has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Donahue Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Moore Haven will be playing in front of their home fans against Donahue Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Donahue Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday. As for they, they will head out on the road to challenge Moore Haven at 4:30 p.m.
