The Sumner Stingrays had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their game on the road on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 56-23 victory over Strawberry Crest. Sumner has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 27 points or more this season.
Sumner got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Briana Gill-guyette out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals. Gill-guyette is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Berry, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Sumner's victory bumped their record up to 20-5. As for Strawberry Crest, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
Sumner didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-17 win vs. Lakewood Ranch on the 9th. Strawberry Crest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
