North Penn-Liberty has gone 8-1 against Williamson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Mountie will take on the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. North Penn-Liberty's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so Williamson's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
North Penn-Liberty's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Northeast Bradford. The victory continues a trend for the Mountie in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.
Not much got past Elyna Booth, who gave up just three hits to keep Northeast Bradford off the board.
At the plate, North Penn-Liberty's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Haley Litzelman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Ava Giles also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Williamson came out on top against Wellsboro on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Warriors took their match against the Hornets 9-4.
Olivia Gee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kaegen Short was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Lexi Smalley was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.
North Penn-Liberty's record now sits at 11-3. As for Williamson, their record is now 9-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. North Penn-Liberty has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Williamson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
North Penn-Liberty took their victory against Williamson when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mountie since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
