It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Slocomb Red Tops can now relate to. They were dealt a 71-9 defeat at the hands of the Panthers on Friday. Slocomb's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it 11 in a row.
Geneva's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rayanna Ausley led the charge by scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals. Ausley has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Cheyenne Hammock was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Slocomb's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-21. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.7 points per game. As for Geneva, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
Slocomb does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Geneva also has no future games currently scheduled.
