After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Glass, the Amherst County Lancers were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Appomattox County 43-40. That's another feather in the cap for Amherst County, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Amherst County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zech Lilly, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaion Morris, who scored 11 points.
The win got Amherst County back to even at 3-3. As for Appomattox County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amherst County and Heritage will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Heritage knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Amherst County likes a good challenge. As for Appomattox County, they will head out on the road to face off against Gretna at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
