Hillsboro dropped their record down to 11-10 on Monday, which also ended the team's 18-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 21-12 to the Necedah Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-11 back in April.

Elizabeth Cairns and Michelyn Hansen did some serious damage despite the final result: Cairns went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Hansen went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Cairns has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Michelle Hora, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
As for Necedah, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Necedah's side, Addisyn Schumer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and eight unearned) runs off 13 hits. Schumer was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Kiesling, who went 4-for-5 with seven RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Hannah Hunkins was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and one double.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillsboro will take on Bangor at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Necedah, they will face off against Pittsville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
