Baseball Game Preview: Camp Hill Lions vs. Middletown Blue Raiders

Camp Hill has gone 9-1 against Middletown recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Lions will host the Blue Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Camp Hill turned things around against Bishop McDevitt on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Crusaders 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since March 28, 2024.

Jonathan Drawbaugh was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Drawbaugh wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Drew Branstetter, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Alex Baturin also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Middletown, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Harrisburg on Tuesday. The Blue Raiders haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Ben Nordai, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of J.P. Horetsky, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Camp Hill's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Middletown, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
