The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs won the last time they faced the Hartsville Red Foxes, and things went their way on Tuesday too. North Myrtle Beach managed a 57-52 victory over the Red Foxes. Given North Myrtle Beach's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Red Foxes are ranked 168th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hartsville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mccoy Harry, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Harry pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Shahquan Pendergrass, who scored nine points.
The victory makes it two in a row for North Myrtle Beach and bumps their season record up to 14-8. As for Hartsville, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-16.
North Myrtle Beach will take on the Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Florence knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully the Chiefs likes a good challenge. As for Hartsville, they will head out on the road to take on the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Florence is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
