Adding to the longest winning streak in 3A District 3 this week, Melbourne Central Catholic beat Frostproof 38-37. The victory was the 11th in a row for the Hustlers.
Holy Trinity Episcopal lost to Tampa Catholic 52-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Daniel Welch was a bright spot for the Tigers, as he threw for 226 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 21 yards in the loss.
Holy Trinity Episcopal's dynamic duo of Welch and Tony Jenkins proved tough for the Crusaders to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. J'V'ON Butler helped Holy Trinity Episcopal's passing attack out by catching 9 balls for 84 yards.
He was 16-27 with 1 interception.
Melbourne Central Catholic's Brandon Ziarno and Max Erdman led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Ziarno has thrown for 2,207 yards this season, while Erdman has 41 catches for 625 yards. Mark Ainsley's team's Alex Bouie leads the league in rushing yards with 1,053.
Mike Riazzi's team and the Bulldogs played the closest game in the league this week, with Mike Riazzi's team eventually emerging with a 38-37 victory. Chase Jackson-Harris ran for 179 yards in the win.
