Thurston has gone a perfect 10-0 against North Eugene recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Colts will venture away from home to face off against the Highlanders at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Thurston has four straight wins, North Eugene has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Saturday, Thurston beat Churchill 6-2.
Kasey Ogan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Syren Ferguson and Kassy Anderson did most of the damage at the plate: Ferguson scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Anderson scored a run while going 1-for-3. Payton Tovey also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, North Eugene came up short against Crater on Friday, falling 15-7.
Alexa Stiles was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cameron Pierce, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Thurston pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for North Eugene, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Thurston has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .466. However, it's not like North Eugene struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Thurston took their victory against North Eugene in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-4 score. Do the Colts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Highlanders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
