While losing is never fun, Springfield Southeast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Springfield is ranked 123rd).
Despite the loss, Springfield Southeast still got an impressive performance from Marisa Gant, who scored 16 points along with eight steals. Gant hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'maria Rollen, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Springfield Southeast's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Springfield, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-7.
Springfield Southeast's road trip will continue as they head out to face Sacred Heart-Griffin at 7:20 p.m. on January 19th. Sacred Heart-Griffin is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games. As for Springfield, they will face off against Lanphier at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Lanphier is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
