Two dominant guards in Quay Watson and Chase Bryson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Hopewell Titans will be playing at home against the Harding University Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hopewell's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Hopewell pushed their score all the way to 79 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 83-79 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lexington. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (76), Hopewell still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Hopewell got a solid performance out of Watson, who scored 35 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Watson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Eley, who scored 18 points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, Harding University didn't have too much trouble with West Mecklenburg on the road on Friday as they won 65-49.
Hopewell dropped their record down to 12-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Harding University, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
Everything came up roses for Hopewell against Harding University when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 80-49 win. With Hopewell ahead 50-29 at the half, the match was all but over already.
