Richland (Johnstown, Pa.) beat
Central Cambria (Ebensburg, Pa.) 42-14 on the strength of a superb game by dual threat quarterback
Matt Shaffer, who threw two touchdown passes while running for two more.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Shaffer to
Kyle Flick in the first quarter, the Rams led 27-14 at the half.
Richland expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. RHS scored two times in the third, including once on a kick return touchdown by
Dominic Farina.
With the win the Johnstown school extended its winning streak to nine games. Richland defeated Penn Cambria 44-0 last week.
Richland's standout player in the win was Shaffer. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.
Richland went into the matchup giving up only 11.3 points per game. Central Cambria's 14 points were below their season average of 17.9 per game.
The loss was the third in a row for Central Cambria.
