South View hasn't had much luck against Gray's Creek recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Tigers will host the Bears at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
South View will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Purnell Swett on Wednesday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 10-4 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Tigers have posted against the Rams since April 11, 2022.

David Ramsey made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trey Ray, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4. South View is undefeated when Ray posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Koltyn Ziegler was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Gray's Creek entered their tilt with Lumberton on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 14-7 margin over the Pirates.
Like South View, Gray's Creek also got a great game from a two-way player: Mason Barnes. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Barnes has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, Cuyler Windham and Gunner Sterling did most of the damage at the plate: Windham went 3-for-4 with six RBI and one double, while Sterling scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Sterling is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Peyton Stanton, who scored a run while going 5-for-5.
South View has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Gray's Creek, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.
South View was able to grind out a solid victory over Gray's Creek in their previous meeting back in March, winning 7-3. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
