At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rylan Baker, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs and one triple. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Ford McCarthy was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Maclay had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Tigers.
Landon Barineau made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Barineau was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Beau Beshears was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.
Maclay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson County only posted an OBP of .316.
Maclay's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Bolles, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bolles has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Maclay struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
