Catherine Schumm made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jodi Browning was excellent, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sarah Gondek, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.
Cabrini always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jefferson). They were the clear victors by a 24-4 margin over Britton Deerfield on Thursday. The Bears not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12, 2025 (when they won 22-0).
Jalee Leach looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alivia LeBrun, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, four runs, and one stolen base. Mikaela Priester also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Cabrini's record now sits at 9-7. As for Jefferson, their record is now 4-14.
Jefferson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cabrini has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .485. It's a different story for Jefferson, though, as they've only averaged .302. Will they be able to contain Cabrini's hitters?
