Latta is 9-1 against the Silver Foxes since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Latta Vikings are on the road again and plays the Lamar Silver Foxes at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Latta will be strutting in after a victory while the Silver Foxes will be coming in after a defeat.
Latta scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took down Hannah-Pamplico 50-32. Latta pushed the score to 43-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Raiders cut but never quite recovered from.
Shawniza Bethea continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Latta's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anziya Jones, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Lamar's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They fell 46-37 to Green Sea Floyds.
Latta's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10. As for Lamar, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.
Latta beat the Silver Foxes 44-37 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Latta since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
