Chloey Leach spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Southwestern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nataley Morrison, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Southwestern's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for South Decatur, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
South Decatur's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game.
