Carmel dropped their record down to 15-8 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 12-2 to the Cathedral Fighting Irish. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Greyhounds, who until this contest were averaging 3.7 runs allowed.

As for Cathedral, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.

For Cathedral's part, Eli Bennett made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Bennett has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Cathedral let Connor Christiansen and Bo Cooper run wild. Christiansen got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Cooper got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double. What's more, Cooper posted two hits, the most he's had over his last nine matchups. Cameron Koers was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carmel will square off against Harrison at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Cathedral, they will take on New Palestine at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
