Carl Albert is 4-0 against El Reno since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Last Friday, Carl Albert strolled past Piedmont with points to spare, taking the game 38-24. Given Carl Albert's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked third, while Piedmont is ranked 30th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carl Albert's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kevin Sperry, who threw for 312 yards and a touchdown while picking up 13.6 yards per attempt, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Xavier Robinson, who rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, El Reno can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They breezed by Altus at home to the tune of 63-24. The win made it back-to-back wins for El Reno.
El Reno's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elijah Fisher led the charge by rushing for 126 yards and four touchdowns on only five carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Nicholson, who rushed for 207 yards on only eight carries.
Carl Albert has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 10-0 record. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 36.18 points. As for El Reno, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Carl Albert against El Reno in their previous meeting back in November of 2021 as the squad secured a 42-7 win. Will Carl Albert repeat their success, or does El Reno have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
