Softball Recap: Crawford Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Crawford won against Abbott on Thursday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Pirates didn't even let the Hamilton Bulldogs on the board, marking the Pirates' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

Mattie Ratliff was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Camrie Buice was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Macey Cloud, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Crawford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. They are 8-3 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Crawford's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hamilton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Coincidentally, Crawford and Hamilton will both be playing Bruceville-Eddy the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Pirates will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
