Wilton/Wing had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Enderlin Eagles by a score of 9-6 on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Miners sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row dating back to last season.
Ella Witt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Witt was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Tessa Miller was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Moana Tooke was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Coincidentally, Wilton/Wing and Enderlin will both be playing Harvey the next time they take the field. The Miners will head out to face the Hornets at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Eagles will play them later in the day, at 2:30 p.m.
