The Whitman Vikings had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. They walked away with a 76-65 win over Churchill. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Evan Brown was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Thomas Farrell, who scored 18 points.
Whitman is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. As for Churchill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whitman will challenge Walter Johnson at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Whitman has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 899 points over their last 13 contests. As for Churchill, they will head out on the road to square off against Bethesda-Chevy Chase at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
