The Archbishop Molloy Stanners's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They lost to St. Thomas Aquinas on the road by a decisive 60-41 margin. While losing is never fun, Archbishop Molloy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 318th in New York, while St. Thomas Aquinas is ranked seventh in Florida).
St. Thomas Aquinas found their leader in underclassman Drake (DJ) Sandi, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Kellson (KJ) Sandi, who scored 12 points.
Archbishop Molloy bumped their record down to 2-3 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.
Archbishop Molloy will be home for the holidays to greet Saint Andrew's at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. St. Thomas Aquinas will take on Lexington Catholic in a holiday battle at 8:30 p.m. on Monday at. Lexington Catholic is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
