After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Franklin Road Academy, the Battle Ground Academy Wildcats were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They came out on top against University School of Nashville by a score of 50-38. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Battle Ground Academy also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Abby Mclay was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Battle Ground Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dj Haws, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Despite the defeat, University School of Nashville had strong showings from Uma Peters, who scored 15 points along with two steals, and Yvonne Thomas, who scored four points.
Battle Ground Academy's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-11. As for University School of Nashville, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Battle Ground Academy will challenge Grace Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Grace Christian Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Battle Ground Academy in Tennessee (Grace Christian Academy is ranked 79th, while Battle Ground Academy is ranked 266th). As for University School of Nashville, they will head out on the road to take on Franklin Road Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin Road Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully University School of Nashville likes a good challenge.
