Baseball Recap: Hernando Beats Umatilla for Their Third Straight Win

With a playoff win on the line, Hernando rose to the challenge on Monday. They put the hurt on the Umatilla Bulldogs with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Leopards not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 11-1).

Cadyn Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Eric O'Dell, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaine Ellis, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

The win was the third in a row for Hernando, bringing their record up to 19-14. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Umatilla, their loss dropped their record down to 18-15.

Hernando will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
