The Gloria Deo Academy Lions extended their postseason success on Saturday against the Fort Worth THESA Riders. They claimed a resounding 73-24 victory over the Riders on the road. Winning may never get old, but Gloria Deo Academy sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
It was another big night for Nolan Chandler, who rushed for 178 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Chandler hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for six straight games. Evan Spondike made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Layton Francis and Jaxson Naumann certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Francis threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes, while Naumann picked up 126 receiving yards and a touchdown. Naumann's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards.
Gloria Deo Academy's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Fort Worth THESA, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Gloria Deo Academy is on the road again on Saturday and play against Fort Bend Chargers HomeSchool at 12:00 p.m. on November 25th. Fort Bend Chargers HomeSchool knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 games -- so hopefully Gloria Deo Academy likes a good challenge. Fort Worth THESA does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
