Not much got past Callie Howard, who gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Pleasant Valley off the board. Howard has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cardinal Newman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izzie Kunimune, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Hillsdale ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past Liberty 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Fighting Knights sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
