The Pathways Eagles entered their tilt with the International Community Comets with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Pathways walked away with a 41-34 win over the Comets on Friday. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Pathways has scored all year.
Pathways' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Steven Edwards led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Branden Southall, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
International Community's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Andrescik, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Paxton Boaz, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Pathways is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for International Community, they dropped their record down to 6-16 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pathways will take on the Kings at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for International Community, they will play host again and welcome the Centurions, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (Circle Christian is ranked 589th, while the Comets are ranked 585th).
