The Fremont Silverwolves will face off against the Bear River Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Fremont will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Fremont was able to grind out a solid win over Northridge, taking the game 3-1.
Fremont had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-22.
Fremont can attribute much of their success to Brooklyn Smedley, who had 16 assists and 11 digs.
Fremont was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 20 consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Bear River made easy work of Tooele on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory.
The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-19, 25-14.
Fremont's win bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Bear River, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Fremont has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 11.3 aces per game. However, it's not like Bear River struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Fremont's way against Bear River in their previous matchup back in August of 2023, as Fremont made off with a 3-0 win. Do the Silverwolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
