Basketball Recap: Brooklyn Evans' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bertrand over Cambridge

Bertrand lost against Cambridge back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bertrand Vikings fell 50-42 to the Cambridge Trojans.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooklyn Evans, who went 5 of 12 en route to 18 points in addition to six boards and three steals. That's the most rebounds Evans has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Schoene, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 10 points and six steals.

Mallory Springer was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards for Cambridge. Springer is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Elisabeth Kubik was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

Bertrand has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Cambridge, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

While Bertrand had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
