Bishop McDevitt had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.8 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Mechanicsburg Wildcats 47-7. That's more bragging rights for the Crusaders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Maurice Barnes Jr. went supernova, rushing for 63 yards and three scores on only seven carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Sebastian Williams was another key player, rushing for 35 yards and one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bishop McDevitt was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 253 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 168 rushing yards in eight consecutive games.

Bishop McDevitt's record now sits at 9-2. As for Mechanicsburg, they moved to 10-2 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Bishop McDevitt will be playing at home against Exeter Township at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Crusaders 13.1, the Eagles 11.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Mechanicsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
