After three games on the road, New Prairie is heading back home. They will take on the Jimtown Jimmies at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully New Prairie is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Jimtown in Indiana (New Prairie is ranked 88th, while Jimtown is ranked 231st).
Last Tuesday, New Prairie came up short against Mishawaka and fell 49-40.
New Prairie's loss came about despite a quality game from Jayden Flagg, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Morgan White was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Jimtown had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Trinity 37-19 on Thursday. The win was just what Jimtown needed coming off of a 66-32 loss in their prior match.
Jimtown got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Natalie Butler out in front who scored 13 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Justyce Williams, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
New Prairie's loss dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Jimtown, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-13.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Flagg and Williams. Flagg has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 14.4 points, 2.4 steals, and 4.7 assists. For her part, Williams has averaged 14.2 points and 2.6 steals.
New Prairie strolled past Jimtown in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 57-38. Does New Prairie have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jimtown turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
