A big part of Kirk Academy's win came down to the chemistry between Linton Carson and his top target Gage Vance. Carson rushed for 160 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.0 yards per carry while Vance rushed for 182 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Kirk Academy is undefeated when Carson posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Maverick Fowler, who rushed for 52 yards and one score.
Kirk Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 444 rushing yards. They are 5-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Lee Academy on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew North Delta out of the water with a 42-0 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Colts had established a 36-point advantage.
Kirk Academy better keep an eye on Desi Monix. He was instrumental in Lee Academy's win, rushing for 172 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Monix is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 115 every time he's taken the field this season. Jackson Lively was in the mix too, providing Lee Academy with two touchdowns.
Kirk Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Lee Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Kirk Academy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 254.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lee Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 270.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Kirk Academy against Lee Academy in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 42-6 win. In that game, the Raiders amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
