South Central is a perfect 7-0 against Jacksonville since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Falcons will head out to square off against the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. South Central is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
South Central came out on top against Havelock on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run fourth inning. The Falcons blew past the Rams 17-5. The Falcons not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th (when they won 15-0).
South Central got a massive performance out of Haven Roebuck, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Roebuck has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Hailey Mickey, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Jacksonville had taken J.H. Rose down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Cardinals lost 17-3 to the Rampants. The Cardinals have struggled against the Rampants recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Lauren Weston spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and 13 unearned) runs on 17 hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Bailey Weston made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
Jacksonville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for South Central, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.
Jacksonville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. It's a different story for Jacksonville, though, as they've only averaged .247. Will they be able to contain South Central's hitters?
South Central skirted past Jacksonville 2-1 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
