Meanwhile, Moapa Valley entered their tilt with Canyon Springs on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Pioneers a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Garrett Hadley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, Moapa Valley let Logan Schouten and Tyson Pettingill run wild. Schouten went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Pettingill got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Pettingill has become a key player for Moapa Valley: the team is 10-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Pettingill, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Moapa Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matches.
Moapa Valley's victory bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Democracy Prep Agassi Campus, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.
