St. Pius X is 5-0 against the Savages since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The St. Pius X Warriors will be staying on the road to face off against the Savannah Savages at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th. Hopefully St. Pius X focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
Last Friday, St. Pius X was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-42 to the Blue Jays.
Despite the loss, St. Pius X saw an underclassman step up: Kate Sell scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sell has scored all season. Hayley Tischinski was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, Savannah was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 39-38 to the Bluejays.
St. Pius X has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Savannah, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-11.
St. Pius X was able to grind out a solid victory over the Savages when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 40-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Pius X since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
