Mapleton and Plymouth are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Mounties will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Big Red at 5:00 p.m. Mapleton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Mapleton will bounce into Thursday's game after beating St. Paul, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mounties came out on top against the Flyers by a score of 9-5 on Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Gabe Wrobleski, who went 2-for-4 with seven stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those seven stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Welch, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Plymouth never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over New London. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Big Red this season.
Jarrett Burrer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also allowed no hits, which is notable because Plymouth is 3-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 3-4 otherwise. Burrer was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Keegan Beverly was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Lincoln Distl was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Plymouth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Plymouth's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Mapleton, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7.
Mapleton took their victory against Plymouth when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-3 score. Will the Mounties repeat their success, or do the Big Red have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
