The Woodmont Wildcats were the 64-62 winner over the J.L. Mann Patriots when they last played one another on January 10th, but their luck changed this time around. Woodmont took a 73-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of J.L. Mann. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Woodmont came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while J.L. Mann is ranked 98th).
Jeremy Cook was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with seven assists and five rebounds for J.L. Mann. Cook is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Davidson, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Woodmont are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-9. As for J.L. Mann, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-14 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodmont's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hillcrest at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Hillcrest has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 30. As for J.L. Mann, they will head out on the road to square off against T.L. Hanna at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. T.L. Hanna knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully J.L. Mann likes a good challenge.
