PHOENIX, Ariz. - In spite of trailing
Phoenix Christian (Phoenix, Ariz.) 20 points,
Alhambra (Phoenix, Ariz.) surged back to grab a 26-20 win over
Phoenix Christian (Phoenix, Ariz.) Saturday.
The Cougars pulled ahead on a touchdown run by
Scottie Jordan, and subsequently went into halftime leading 20-0. The Lions took the lead for good with a rushing touchdown in the fifth quarter.
Despite scoring six points in the third, Alhambra still trailed by 14 points going into the fourth quarter. But 14 points in the fourth helped AHS pull out the victory.
The Lions didn't regain the lead for good until the overtime when they ran for a touchdown.
The defeat comes as a step back for Phoenix Christian, which notched a 41-0 victory over Moon Valley in its previous outing.
Alhambra (5-2) will play a III Section VI game against Moon Valley next week, while Phoenix Christian (3-4) will take on Tempe also in a III Section VI game.
