The Struthers Wildcats will head out to face off against the Ravenna Ravens at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Struthers will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Struthers barely beat McKinley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats blew past the Red Dragons 10-0 on Tuesday.
Not much got past Drew Chizmar, who gave up just six hits and racked up seven Ks to keep McKinley off the board.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Travis McMurray, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Eddie Bradley, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Struthers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ravenna, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over Springfield on Tuesday.
Connor Welling made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Welling was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games he's played.
In other batting news, Logan Hysell was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
Struthers' record now sits at 8-9. As for Ravenna, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-12.
Struthers beat Ravenna 6-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
