Bo Coleman and Troy Giddings provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Eldorado. The connection was good for 82 yards, the longest such play in 5A District 5 this season.
Atrisco Heritage Academy extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Valencia, 40-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Jaguars.
Valley's dynamic duo of Coleman and Giddings proved tough for the Eagles to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Coleman threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns and Giddings had 89 yards receiving. Robert Armijo helped Valley's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 61 yards.
Ricci Alvidrez was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 13 carries, he ran for 170 yards as Atrisco Heritage Academy fell to Eldorado. Nathaniel Goode also contributed to the rushing game with 125 yards on the ground.
Valley's Coleman and Aaron Molina have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 5A District 5 in both passing and receiving yards. Coleman has thrown for 846 yards this season, while Molina, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 13 catches for 226 yards. Alvidrez from Patrick Johnson's team leads the league in rushing with 493 yards.
Enrico Marcelli's team was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Enrico Marcelli's team 41-34. The Vikings came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.
