The Wesson Cobras put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. Everything went their way against South Pike as Wesson made off with a 42-20 victory. The result was nothing new for Wesson, who have now won seven contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
O'mari Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 123 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also picking up 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Deshawn Smith, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Although South Pike took the loss, they still got scores from Lemari Cowart, Martavius Jones, and Devin Johnson.
Wesson's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.4 points per game. As for South Pike, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Wesson will head out on the road to face off against Jefferson County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Pike, they will be playing at home against Port Gibson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Port Gibson is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
