Conway has gone a perfect 10-0 against Little Rock Southwest recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wampus Cats will welcome the Gryphons at 5:00 p.m. Conway will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
On Monday, Conway narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Bentonville 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wampus Cats have posted against the Tigers since May 13, 2016.
Meanwhile, Little Rock Southwest hadn't done well against Hot Springs recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Gryphons were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Trojans.
Donta King made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Aj Vernon and Adrian Martin did most of the damage at the plate: Vernon got on base in three of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs, while Martin went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Martin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Davion King, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Little Rock Southwest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Conway's victory was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.1 runs over those games. As for Little Rock Southwest, their victory ended an 18-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-17.
Everything went Conway's way against Little Rock Southwest in their previous matchup back in March, as Conway made off with a 21-0 win. Will the Wampus Cats repeat their success, or do the Gryphons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
