Wilmington is 8-1 against Washington since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Wilmington Hurricane will head out on the road to face off against the Washington Blue Lions at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, Wilmington came up short against Ross and fell 65-57. While losing is never fun, Wilmington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 539th, while Ross is ranked 248th).
Meanwhile, Washington put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past McClain 68-36 at home. Washington's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Washington's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Garrett Rickman, who scored 16 points along with seven steals, and Isaiah Haithcock, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Haithcock scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Miller, who scored nine points.
Wilmington's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Washington, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.
Wilmington suffered a grim 61-39 defeat to Washington in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Wilmington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
