The Amador Valley Dons will take on the Cardinal Newman Cardinals at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Amador Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Amador Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against McKinleyville, sneaking past 2-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Dons as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Brennan Baptist spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. He is becoming a predictor of Amador Valley's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 8-11 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gavin Colombo, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Newman came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with a 10-0 victory. Cardinal Newman's win was all the more impressive since the Cougars were averaging only 3.25 runs allowed on the season.
Not much got past Josh Jannicelli, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep Newark Memorial off the board. Jannicelli has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Chase Bromstad was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Jamie Vozaitis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Cardinal Newman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Cardinal Newman pushed their record up to 17-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Amador Valley, their record is now 14-11.
Both Amador Valley and Cardinal Newman just can't seem to miss. The Dons have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Cardinal Newman struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
