Texas has gone 7-1 against Marshall recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. Texas will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Texas and Whitehouse have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Tigers really took it to the Wildcats for the full four quarters, racking up a 64-21 victory. That looming 64-21 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

Tradarian Ball was his usual excellent self, rushing for 70 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while also catching one TD. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kameron Wrightner, who threw for 148 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 passes.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Texas, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Justin Lamay, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Texas' defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Caden Criner and Javon Moore, who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, a win is a win, as they say, even a pretty close 7-3 win over Mt. Pleasant. Given the Mavericks' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Tigers are ranked 342nd) , the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Texas' record now sits at 5-1. As for Marshall, their record is now 4-1.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Wrightner and Alton Henderson. Wrightner just won't slow down this season and has thrown 20 touchdowns while averaging 239.3 passing yards per game. Henderson has been a dominant force too and has averaged 78.6 passing yards per game.
Texas won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in October of 2024, slipping by Marshall 43-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
