Baseball Game Preview: Youngker Roughriders vs. Canyon View Jaguars

For the second straight game, Youngker will face off against Canyon View. The Roughriders will venture away from home to face off against the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Youngker is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.

Youngker fell victim to Canyon View and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Jaguars, falling 13-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Roughriders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Canyon View's part, not much got past Cason Hagerman, who gave up just a hit to keep Youngker off the board.

At the plate, Benjamin Mercado was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Eli McBryde was another key player, going 4-for-5 with one run and one double.

Canyon View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Youngker only posted a batting average of .053.

Canyon View's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Youngker, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-2 record.

Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Youngker has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .496. However, it's not like Canyon View struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
